When to get in touch, and how it works
Most couples reach out between six months and two years before their wedding. Summer Saturdays are usually the first to go, often well in advance. If you already have a date, it is always worth checking availability sooner rather than later, even if you are still planning.
Enquiries are simple. Send your date and venue and I will reply personally, usually within a day. If the date is already taken, I will say so directly and, where possible, suggest another photographer I trust. If it is available, we take it from there.
There is no process beyond that. No pressure and no obligation. Just a clear answer on availability and whether it feels like the right fit.
What happens if you are ill or unable to attend? In eighteen years, I have never missed a wedding day. That is not something I say lightly.
That said, circumstances can always change. In the event that something prevented me from being there, I would draw on a trusted network of established photographers to find the best available replacement and present you with options. Any monies paid would be refunded in full if you chose to go in a different direction. I would do whatever was needed to ensure a smooth outcome.
Can we see full wedding galleries before booking?Yes. Send me your venue, your time of year, or any particular style you have in mind and I will pull together relevant work from the archive.
One thing worth knowing: I actively welcome bookings at venues I have not worked before, or not worked at recently. Familiarity creates its own challenge. You risk producing work that echoes what you have already made for another couple. Arriving somewhere with fresh eyes, and no preconceptions about where the light falls or where the moments tend to happen, consistently produces stronger work.
My earlier work, from eight or ten years ago, would not be fully representative of how I work today. Approach, editing, and experience have all developed considerably. What you see on the website is what you should expect.
What is included, and how pricing works
A £300 deposit secures your date, with the remaining balance due closer to the wedding.
Full day coverage runs from morning preparations through to first dance. Everything is included as standard. There are no hidden extras. If you would like me to stay longer than first dance, this can be discussed.
Each collection includes full colour and black and white imagery, a private online gallery at full resolution, and a cinematic slideshow set to music. Two cameras are used throughout the day, with full backup equipment carried as standard.
Travel within sixty miles of Nottingham is included. Beyond that, any additional costs are agreed clearly in advance.
Albums, printed work, engagement sessions and additional coverage are available separately if required.
Do you work with a second photographer?A second photographer is available if required, though the majority of weddings do not need one.
The situations where it makes sense are specific: when the bride and groom are getting ready at different venues too far apart to visit both, or when the guest count exceeds 150 to 200 and comprehensive guest coverage is a priority.
One thing worth knowing: different photographers have different eyes and different ways of working. The results are rarely identical in quality or feel. I only work with established professionals. I would never bring in someone looking to build experience at your expense.
How it feels, and how I work
I work quietly and without direction. Most guests will be unaware of me until they see the photographs afterwards. But getting to that point requires something that happens before the camera comes out.
When I arrive, guests are aware of a photographer in the room. Some will turn away. Some will adjust themselves. At this point, the camera stays down. I spend time with your family and friends first. I listen, I talk, I become part of the day rather than a fixture of it. By the time the formalities begin, most people have forgotten I am working.
This shift matters. The photographs you see in my portfolio are only possible once I have built trust.
After photographing weddings for eighteen years, you begin to recognise patterns before they fully unfold. Not everything can be anticipated, but much of it can be felt in advance.
The only structured element of the day are the group and portrait photographs, if you require them. There is no limit on the number of groups. Your family is not my family, and I would not presume to put a number on who needs to be included. More groups mean more time will be needed, but it is always your call.
The approach to groups is the same as everything else on the day. No posing, no forced arrangements. I match the energy in the room, I encourage guests to take their own photographs, and I keep things moving. The rapport built over the course of the morning makes all of this easier.
The rest of the day is left to unfold as it happens.
Where I work, and what it means for you
I am based in Nottingham and regularly photograph weddings across the UK, particularly the East Midlands, Yorkshire, Lincolnshire, the Peak District and the Cotswolds.
Travel within a reasonable distance is included. For weddings further afield, any additional costs are agreed at cost, prior to booking.
If you are unsure whether your location is covered, just send it over and I will confirm.
Editing, delivery, and how your photographs are finished
Editing is part of the process from the moment the photograph is taken.
Every image is individually selected and refined to ensure consistency across the full set. The aim is a natural, contemporary finish that reflects the atmosphere of the day without feeling over-stylised or trend-driven. If you like the photographs on my website then this is what you should expect. Colours and materials cannot be guaranteed to match exactly due to seasonal and artificial light differences.
Delivery is typically within two to four weeks, often sooner outside peak season.During busier periods it may take slightly longer, but quality is never rushed.
Your gallery is delivered in a private online space, accessible on any device. It is designed to be easy to share with family and guests, with both individual downloads and full gallery download available.
Both colour and black and white versions are included as standard. You do not need to choose between them.
A short cinematic slideshow is created after delivery, offering a condensed view of the day set to music.
How many photographs will we receive? For a typical full day, you can expect in the region of 600 images, often more. The exact number depends on the wedding: the size of the guest list, the shape of the day, the moments that present themselves.
A smaller wedding with ten guests calls for a different approach than one with two hundred. Part of the work is knowing when to be active and when to give the day some breathing space. More guests naturally creates more to document.
That said, the number is never the goal. The goal is a complete, considered set of images that reflects the day as it actually was.
Albums and printed work are available to order once your gallery has been delivered.
